Notices come up that my home computer has been infected with a virus.
I live in California and called a well known company called the Geek Squad. They said the fee would be about 0.00 to clear it up.
Is that standard fee for home computer virus cleanup? Will pay it if I have to but seems high fee for this problem.
Any other suggestions on how to clean up my computer.

Geek Squad, sorry to say (a national company) is horrible. The average computer user can get free antivirus, do a simple scan and get rid of the virus in less than an hour or so.
I like Avast Antivirus
you can get it free at http://www.avast.com
Hope this helps. If you do want a real company to do it though look around for local providers first. Frequently they're cheaper, more knowledgeable, and allow more of a personal experience with the customer.
try this online free scan from trend micro..
http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
Try this one AVG i use it on all my computers and it's free.
Download avast from download.com, its free install it and schedule a boottime scan, that should take care of any virus on your pc
