I have an external hard drive, and I guess it’s full so i can’t download anything else on it.
How do I clean it up?
Will simply deleting a file actually work?
What about defragging it?

1. Control panel/add remove programs.- Removing programs that you dont use anymore.
2. My computer Right click Drive C: click on properties. on the general tab. click on disk cleanup. it should take a while but it helps.
3. Web browser. go to options and delete all your web browser history, cookies, etc..
4. Defrag your drive.
5. files you dont use. burn them to cd or copy them to external drive.
you need to free it , but from what . how you get it full . did u put films overthere?!!
defragging only arranges files in a way that is easier for the system to look up items in the future, therefore making it’s performance(speed) better.
Yes, deleting files will work. Plug the external hard drive to the pc(if not already) enter the drive and delete anything you wish to delete***.
Once you’re done deleting the thing you need to delete, then run a defarg on it if you wish. No point doing it before.
***make sure you back up any necessary information from the external hard drive prior to delteting it either by burning a disc (cd or dvd) or by transfering the files to a different drive (pen drive, hard drive, etc)
