I used to use CCleaner (http://www.ccleaner.com) which is free.
However, it doesn’t have any sort of backup facility which meant that one day, it deleted the wrong registry file and made my computer unable to boot up. I took it to the computer repair store and they wanted $150 to fix it
I now use a cleaner called "RegAce" because it’s easy to use and has a complete backup system which even makes a restore point on your computer. You can read about it here: http://www.fastregistryfixes.com/regace_review.html
I agree – use Ccleaner. It’s quite safe and makes backups before changing anything.
Go to http://ccleaner.com
Download and install the program, deciding if you want the Yahoo toolbar installed.
Open Ccleaner and click on the Registry button on the left.
Do this repeatedly with the appropriate buttons until no more issues are found:
— Scan for issues.
— Choose to Fix selected issues.
— Back up changes using the suggested name.
— Fix ALL selected issues.
— Now repeat.
Ccleaner can be used on all versions of Windows so far as I know – I use it on 98SE, 2000 and XP Pro.
use ccleaner. you can find it on download.com
it’s free and easy to use
Norton and McAfee are anti virus softwares.
You need a registry cleaner/ defragger/optimizer.
There are many but choose a free one as the other poster stated at download.com
Some are free for 25-30 days.
Advanced System Care is 100% free and works great made by IOBIT. I have used it for 2 yrs. There are others but this one is what I use.
Lastly Norton is a resource hog and is not a good anti virus much less registry cleaner. Why would you use a antivirus to repair the registry?
I use McAfee but the anti-virus sucks. Just google it.
Personally, I use Tweaknow Regcleaner Professional. Search Google for it, because it’s free and it’s a really helpful tool because it works in under 2 minutes flat (I timed it once). Good luck!
find a good antivirus such as norton
There are many programs that do it
Go to http://www.download.com and search registry cleaner.
Go with the highest cnet rating
