I was told to get a registry cleaner. Is this something that should be purchased or is there a good free ware one I can use?

Use ccleaner. It's a free software easy to download and small in size and removes all the wast material from computer and keeps it clean and tidy.
There really isn't a free one that will fix all of your errors, you can download a registry cleaner and it will do a complete scan of you system and only fix like the first 15 errors. You can buy a program like this for about $30. Or you can try and get one here for free.
