1. reformat
2. clean out your computer (inside like dust)
3.take your computer outside and smash it into bit and get you a new desktop…
You say it will freeze on browsers. You can try a "reset" in Tools, Internet Options, Advanced.
The "reset" will make everything you had set up in Internet Explorer back to default settings.
But it cured my IE browsing problems a few months ago.
5 point soln:
-1- Add/remove programs(under control panel0—> remove programs u dont use
-2- My Documents : go clear it & keep it as small in size as possible (takes up RAM)
-3- Desktop : free up as much as u can….leave least amount of space(also takes RAM)
-4- Disk Defragmenter : try this tool to make more free space come togehter from your Hard disks
(start-acessoris-system tools-dd)
-5- *hardware ugrade* – upgrade ur RAM

My computer is running slow what steps can I do to fix it?
Cause:
This issue can be caused by any of the below possibilities.
1.Hard disk drive is short on available disk space.
2.Several software programs have been installed/uninstalled leaving behind bad files and/or confusing the software.
3.Data Corruption.
4.Computer is overheating.
5.Corrupt OS.
6.Bad Hardware.
Solution:
Below are steps for Microsoft Windows users that should help speed up the computer or determine why the computer is running slow.
Note: If it is just your Internet that is slow see document CH000986 for reasons why this may be happening.
Not enough hard disk drive space
Verify that there is at least 200-500MB of free hard disk drive space. This available space allows the computer to have room for the swap file to increase in size as well as room for temporary files.
•Steps on how to determine how much disk space your computer has can be found on document CH000369.
•See document CH000528 for additional information about regaining lost hard disk drive space.
Hard drive corrupted or fragmented
Run Scandisk or something equivalent to help ensure that there is nothing physically wrong with the computer hard disk drive.
Run Defrag to help ensure that data is arranged in the best possible order.
Background programs
Remove or disable any TSRs or programs that automatically start each time the computer boots. See document CHTSR for additional information. If you’re wanting to see what programs are running in the background, how much memory they’re using, and their CPU usage open Task Manager.
If you’ve got an anti-virus scanner on the computer, spyware protection program, or other security utility make sure it’s not running in the background as you’re trying to work. Often when these programs begin to scan the computer it can decrease the overall performance of your computer.
Hardware conflicts
Verify that the Device Manager has no conflicts. If any exist resolve these issues as they could be the cause of your problem. Information about how to get into Device Manager can be found on document CH000833.
Computer or processor is overheating
Make sure your computer and processor is not overheating, excessive heat can cause a significant decrease in computer performance some processors will even lower the speed of the processor automatically to help compensate for the heat related issues. Additional information about your processor temperature and was of determining how hot it is can be found on document CH000687.
Specific operating system basic troubleshooting

Basic Microsoft Windows 2000 troubleshooting.
Basic Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 troubleshooting.
Basic Microsoft Windows ME troubleshooting.
Basic Microsoft Windows 98 troubleshooting.
Basic Microsoft Windows 95 troubleshooting.
Basic Microsoft Windows 3.x troubleshooting.
Or go through the other basic troubleshooting steps.
Erase computer and start over
Finally, if none of the above solutions resolve your issues, it is recommended that you either reinstall Windows and/or erase everything and then start over. Additional information about how to do this can be found on document CH000186.
Hardware issues
If your computer continues to be slow after going over each of the above recommendations it’s possible that your computer is experiencing a more serious hardware related issue such as a failing component in the computer. This could be a failing or bad CPU, RAM, Motherboard, or other component.
it all depends on your os scines yo mentioned virus scanner i presume its a windows machine
* Type ” msconfig ” in the “RUN” option from start menu press [Enter] to open up the System Configuration Utility.
* Now navigate to the “StartUp” tab.
* Untick the Entries which are not needed
This really matters when you have installed a lot of softwares on your PC. Many software such as AcdSee will run services such as device detector etc during the system start up. These are of no use actually for most windows users
tip:cheak the comand to identify where the program is
don’t disable your antivirus and other stuff that you want
now go to the services tab on the bottom tick hide all microsoft services
now untick the services that you don’t want but keep stuff like vga card(nvidia) stuff and your antivirus stuff
scan for spyware too google "spybot search and destroy" its the best out there
Unload a full mag of 9mm hollow-points into it….or check the power supply. I had a similar problem when mine was starting to fail
Maybe someone is using your internet?
My neighbor used to do that (when he could have internet if he just paid his bill, what a lazy f*ck), and our desktop got really slow. Password protect your network & turn off SSID broadcasting.
Other than that, do a malware scan.
Sadley when computers get slow even after all the above mentioned stuff you did there isnt much more a person can do than upgrade or reinstall the program and start from scratch.
You may have a registry problem try a free scan from here http://www.newregistrycleaner.com/
get closer to your router/wi-fi source, if that doesnt work, well buy a new computer
delete your history, it makes it faster. you can call someone and ask them.
or do a sytem restore.
when my pc gets slow i just reinstall a clean copy of windows.mybe add some ram.
How about a malware scan (yes, different from virus scan).
Try out malwarebytes:
reformatting is ur best bet or your ram could just be upgraded. Another thing is there could be a virus on one of your drives so reformatting should fix it
