Uninstall the codecs or restore windows to a newer stage. To restore hit the windows button and type "system restore" (without the quotes) and try to do the latest date on the restore program.
Uninstall the codec pack you downloaded or do a system restore.
It’s normal for any edition of Vista to crash from time to time. I got a computer and it crashed twice in the first two months of operation!
