You can download a "microsoft works converter" from Microsoft that will convert your documents to Microsoft Office format. You can then use Open Office or Microsoft Office to work on your files, or re-save them in a more usable format.
Unfortunately, these machines are astonishingly complex, and a logical, easy to resolve problem is not always one click away.
To compound this, Microsoft explicitly absolves itself from any problems you may encounter: this would be in the "Agreement" presented when you first fired up the operating system and filled in all the info to ‘Start Windows’.
I can’t see your earlier Q’s because you have ‘Private’ on your profile, so for starters:
If yes, Have you found the files?
Have you tried an alternate program to open them; like Open Office (set to handle Microsoft incoming ‘stuff’)?
More than that would only be guessing on my part.
"DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO GET HELP FROM MICROSOFT ABOUT THEIR INCREDIBLY SCREWED UP AND USELESS PRODUCTS?"
If this was possible, microsoft as a company would not exist today.
Works 8 is ancient (Pre windows XP ancient so probably around a decade)
You could shell out $200 to get word: a slower, buggier and much more expensive version of works, or you could download LibreOffice which will give you a slightly less slow, less buggy, and totally free version of it. http://www.libreoffice.org/download
It shouldn’t have any problem opening your files.
Take your computer to Best Buy and let the Geek Squad have a look at it. It may not be a Microsoft issue.
maybe the problem is due to crappy warped soft wear and you need to return it to where you got it from and get a new copy
This is probably NOT a Microsoft problem. MS Works is a very basic software, and has NEVER had any real problems. It may not be particularly useful, but to the best of my knowledge it has never been known to fail to open documents or edit them. The reasons most reliable software fails are malware infections, incorrect settings, and user error. your system can NOT be 99 or 200, there is no such thing. It can be Windows 98 or 2000, both now obsolete. So you are obviously not reading the messages you see correctly. Works 8 would generally have come with one of these or XP, but is not written for XP or Vista. And Microsoft NEVER load this on your machine. It is usually either provided by the computer manufacturer as part of their install, or you would have to install it yourself. you are not giving ANYONE enough information to help you. Did it run correctly before? Have you run a full malware scan on the machine? Have you used a right click and open with for any file? Have you just installed any new software? What happened just before the failure? We can’t read minds, and if you are intent on blaming everyone else without finding out what the problem is, and are so ready to put down people trying to help you, you are unlikely ever to get this fixed. And for such old systems you will need to pay Microsoft for help at the equivalent of about $100.00 US. This is NOT a warranty support problem.
