Go to the start menu, click run, and type in "regedit" without the quotes. Click "file" and then "Export". Set the range to all and type in a name for the file you want to back it up to. This will create a backup file you can use by clicking "Import" in the "file" menu of the registry editor. Put this file on a disk or flash drive somewhere where it won’t be lost (the best thing is to make multiple disks with copies of it and put them all in different places).
Not really since the registry is always changing.
