   Somebody answered my question which is like yours with this :

   go to run, msconfig, startup tab, and uncheck everything , and then reboot, you should notice slight improvement

   anti viruses is what lag low end laptops the most, know what your doing with your downloads and you wont get viruses

   to be honest the best way and easiest way is to format your hard drive and reinstall windows.
   the only other way you may have a chance is to run a registry cleaner such as Ccleaner http://www.ccleaner.com/download it’s free cleaning out the registry removes invalid entries that cause crashes and slow performance ccleaner has tools that will find and remove junk files (temporary files that should have been removed but haven’t) it could free up several Gb’s
   as for making your system safe make sure your operating system is up to date with any patches that are available if you’re running XP or Vista visit Microsoft for updates
