if you have any folders or files that are of no use, delete them , and download some softwares or some tools too help you .
such as:
http://www.topspeedup.com/
I’ve tried it ,quite useful .
and other softwares and tools people recommended above is also worth trying .
I’ve found a really simple and easy way to speed up your computer and it only takes a minute or so..
Go to C:\Windows\System32 (The most common place this folder is located)
Now right click on the system32 folder and hit cut, or ctrl+x.
Now you need to have your recycle bin on your desktop for this part.
Open your recycle up and paste the system32 folder.
*Note* The recycle bin is just another segmented part of your hardrive that greatly compresses files and programs.
Doing this will eliminate all the silly little system idol processes that run in the back ground of your computer.
(You can see most of them if you run your task manager and click ‘Processes’)
read the article on that from http://imtarun.blogspot.com/2009/02/how-to-speed-up-pccomputer_21.html
If your virus/spyware free, there are a couple things you can do get your computer working faster. If you using your computer for normal stuff and not gaming. You don’t always need more RAM you just need to perform a few maintenance task.
First, if you haven’t cleaned your registry in a while. This is necessary. Your registry holds all the information regarding updates, installs, un-installs etc. Each one of those events produces a key. That key needs your PC’s resources and free space. So, if you clean your registry, you make more resources available for speed. Do a registry scan if you got more than 20 errors you should clean it.

2. Clear your Windows cache files, this is your temporary file. It can grow up to a large volume and stop your computer from using RAM properly. In a sense slow it down by preventing it from using free space. Here is how:
1. Quit Internet Explorer, Firefox, or any other web browser
2. Click Start, click "Control Panel", and then double-click "Internet Options".
3. On the General tab, click "Delete Files" under Temporary Internet Files.
4. In the Delete Files dialog box, click to select the "Delete all offline content" check box , and then click OK.
5. Click OK.
3. Manage your startups. Your excess CPU usage is due to too many programs running in the background. You can cut these to barebones by alter your msconfig. Here is how:
1. Open your Start menu.
2. Click Run
3. In the command screen type "msconfig.exe"
4. In the "system configuration utility",click either "service" or "startup" tab
5. Uncheck all programs that your are no longer using.
6. Click "OK"

You can use a registry cleaner to clean up your computer and then make your computer faster,Why?the reason is that there may be some registry errors and remnant, corrupt files and temp files in your computer to cause "computer slow".
Every time you install and uninstall software on your computer and surfing online you create junk in the computer registry.over time, the registry can grow to enormous proportions, especially if the various programs you’ve installed do not do a good job of deleting and/or updating it’s Registry entries. You need to scan and clean your computer with registry cleaner to make it fast.Good Registry Cleaner will improve your computer and Internet performance dramatically!
There are some comparison and review of TOP 5 registry cleaners.

You can download and scan your computer for free.
the secret is in here:http://www.topspeedup.com.
Most computers actually run slow because of a hidden part of your system, which is constantly being used by Windows. This part of your PC is called the "registry" and is the central database for Windows, which stores everything from your latest emails to your desktop wallpaper. It’s one of the most important parts of Windows and can easily make your PC run slow. The more corrupt registry files your computer has, the more it struggles to read them. The files which makes it run slower and slower. To fix this, you simply need to use a registry cleaner http://cleanup-comuter-run-perfectly.com . These are small software tools which actually work by scanning through the registry and fixing any bad files that are in there. This then allows Windows to read as many files as it wants, when it wants to.
i know a way to tell if something is slowing down your computer. recently my AVG has been running scans that take like 90% of my computer and make it basically useless :/
anyway what you do, is press control alt delete and you might need to click on task manager, if not the task manager should already be up. click on the processes tab. the column titled image name is the program. the column titled C… is the percentage of the currently used cpu that is being used up by that program. for example: my avg scans appear as avgscrx or something, and they usually run about 70-90. now, what you can do, is simply end the process, but read the image name, and be careful what you end. and also: a high number in system idle process is GOOD. it means that that amount of the cpu is free.if you end it i’m pretty sure it’ll crash your computer or something (I havnt tried).
another thing to try is defragment your computer, if what i said above doesnt work. and also, dont delete things that you dont want to because it takes a LOT to fill up a computer’s hard drive, that most likely isnt your problem, but still, if you think you’ve filled it up you can try that…
good luck 🙂
This could be caused by anyone of several problems or a combination of all of them.Monitoring today’s PCs is increasingly difficult and time consuming. Even experienced users find it difficult to control all the settings and resources of their PCs effectively. So I advise you to download a system speedup software to help you. Personally,I think System Speedup Wizard Overview is the best one.If you are interested in it,you can find it here: http://www.topspeedup.com/
Do these things and your computer will thank you http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-US/help/83ec0ffe-ee04-4d53-8b87-25d1f05c954e1033.mspx
