I accidentally downloaded a corrupt file and it contained a registry blocking virus/malware and i can’t seem to clean it. I tried Ad Aware and it’s not use, plus i can’t install any freeware anti softwares now and my automatic updates are off and cannot be turned on!
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Thanks so far!!!
The thing is every time I try to INSTALL something, which requires a reg entry, it denies. So, I’m stuck to the point where I can’t install anything right now. The only thing that went smooth was RegCure and I don’t an official key.
The run cmd and non plug and play thing didn’t work. There isn’t anything like that there. Sorry

First of all try for some online virus scanning. and delete any threat detected. It would be virtually impossible to guide here because damage level can not be determined.
Anyways if you are unable to open windows registry then try as follows:
1. Start>run> and type gpedit.msc and press enter.
2. It will open group policies.
3. Double click on "User Configuration"
4. Double click on "Administrative Templates"
5. Double click on "System"
6. On the right side you will see "Prevent access to registry editing tools" double click on it, and click on "disabled" under settings.
Now you would be able to open windows registry.
If you need more information then back to me with more details.
Try two things:
1) download and install AVG , free virus protection
2) download and install / run Eusing registry cleaner.
If neither of these help you should try doing a system restore to a date before you caught your virus.
start > all programs > accessories > system tools > system restore
avira antivir
If this causes you serious problems, it might not be a bad idea to bite the bullet and reinstall windows. You will need to reinstall your other programs as well, but you generally should be doing this on your system every 6-18 months anyway as regular maintenance on your computer. This just gives you an excuse to do a cleanup.
The only thing you might have to worry about is that if you have a virus that will do it again after the reinstall. I don’t know anything about the virus you have, so can’t comment. It’s possible that the reinstall will disable the way it infects until you run an infected file again, and if that’s the case, you’ll be able to at least get some anti virus stuff installed after your new windows install to fix the problem permanently.
