Since you have much and more problem so it will be better if you format your drive and install windows newly.
-Does not turn off on its own, you have to unplug the battery. does this mean you unplug the power adapter or remove the battery ?
Dropping can and usually damages the internal disc of the hard drive, replace hard drive and install Windows 7 onto it using a set of system recovery/install disc.
If it was plugged in when dropped check the power port jack pin for being loose from the mother board.
Sounds like your hard drive or a important component on your motherboard is shot. Cant fix laptops like you can a desktop.
You’ll need to take it to a repair shop and get it diagnosed . Unless the mother board , then the repair will cost between $150 and $250 . If the mother board is cracked , buy a new laptop , the repair will be more than the computer is worth
