You may need to reinstall Windows. Using free software downloaded from the Internet will only worsen your situation. The so-called ‘Free’ software is known to introduce many worm viruses, spyware and other nasty stuff, which slows down Computers so much, it renders them unusable. The best suggestion is to try and back up or copy the files that you want to keep, such as Word documents, pictures and music files to a CD or to an external drive, then reinstall Windows.
It will be less grief in the long run, and it will return your Computer back to normal.
Before you re-install Windows, it might be something more simple like running out of disk space. Find ‘My Computer’ from the start button menu and right click on ‘local disk C:’ then ‘properties’ to check on available disk space. If its more than 80-90% full there might be a problem. At least a couple gig should be available.
