The XP disc I’m using didn’t come with the computer, but the one that did came with a Restore Plus! DVD and for some reason the computer wont read that disc, so I am forced to use a disc that came with my old computer.

use any XP boot-able CD of x p. and in BIOS make boot device priority to CD drive. and format your hard disk, create all partitions again. just after install new x p use KASPESKY anti virus … for any further knowledge you can ask me.
The good thing is that it is most power full as well as cheapest anti virus to purchase the original one
Call the manufacturer and order an XP restore set. It is the cheaper option if you do not find another copy of XP you can (legally) use. Do a long format on the drive if you are really concerned about the virus on it.
"so I am forced to use a disc that came with my old computer."
Don’t you mean that you have to use the one that didn’t come with the computer? I’m confused – I thought that the disc that came with the machine wasn’t readible. Is your CD drive working? Assuming it reads DVD as well.
Yu wipre your HD by installing the OS, simple as that.
Be sure that that’s the alternative because getting your PC back to normal after a reinstall can be a time-consuming pain.
Are you going to use the same product key (on the side or bottom of your PC)? If you don’t know your product key then download Magic Jelly Bean keyfinder http://sourceforge.net/projects/keyfinder/files/keyfinder/Keyfinder%202.0.1/keyfinder.2.0.1.zip/download and copy it down. You will need an XP installation disk, not a "restore" disc. If your product key is for XP home then you will need an XP Home installation disk…if you have XP Professional then you’ll need an XP Pro disk. If you do not have an installation disk than maybe you can borrow someones. Dell disks will work. Otherwise try cleaning your current install with products like Malwarebytes http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php and the free version of SuperAntiSpyware http://www.superantispyware.com/download.html . They both work well (you should run them in Safe mode after they update). Good Luck!
You should reformat your computer. Buy a legit copy of Windows XP or whatever OS you want to get and then follow the instructions listed on this website: http://helpdesk.its.uiowa.edu/windows/instructions/reformat.htm
This should restart you with a clean hard drive unless you have something extremely serious that affected the actual hardware.
I also suggest buying and installing an anti-virus software like "Norton Anti-Virus" as well.
Hope this helps.
If it is a Windows XP install CD it should work ok.
Place the CD in the drive and boot from it.
When prompted to do so, wipe the hard disc, and format with NTFS. (not quick).
And follow the re-install instructions.
Once re-installed, install antivirus, and get all of the latest Windows updates.
No magnet thats utterly stupid, and no, macs do get viruses, if you think they dont then your severely misguided. You need an install disc of windows xp for a fresh install, i suggest finding a friend who has one since Microsoft charges a hefty price for it.
heshlaw is righttttttttt. Get a mac mate, there 100% better, never get viruses, there faster, and just amazing!
To wipe a disk use
fdisk /MBR
from a command prompt.
buy a mac
they never get viruses
with a magnet.
First get a fresh Windows XP with SP3 bootable CD , then boot your computer with it after that format your harddisk partition with full format option, and install a fresh copy of windows to it. Hope it will help you. Thank you
