After i got the virus I downloaded Kaspersky’s internet Protection suite. Ran a registry cleaner and daily scans to clean my computer. I still have a problem with the computer shutting down in the middle of a search or every page i search gets redirected to another site.

I recommend through previous experience to download a free trial of Malwarebutes’ Anti-Malware version 1.31 and scan your computer. The program should find your virus and either delete it or remove it, just to give a heads up it may need to restart your computer to delete some viruses/spyware etc.

Download and install the latest version and run a quick scan before it disables everything. It will ask to restart because of registry keys being removed. Restart and run a full scan. Do this until you return with zero. I presume with you being on here you still have internet access so you can get this downloaded to either the machine directly or to a thumb drive. Quick Scan will return 7-9 viruses and a full will give you 25-30. The longer AV 2009 is on the machine the worse it gets. It will evolve and adapt to what you do to it. Malware is geared for it I use it at work in a call center of 200+ machines.
Get AVG 8 Free for daily scans when you remove it and download Spy Bot Search and Destroy as a registry tool. It will notify you if anything tries to change your registry which is where this AV 2009 is located and will be until you remove the registry files.
Antivirus 2008/2009
Vista Antivirus 2008/2009
Norton 360 2008/2009
This program removes it quickly and easily. The problem with most scanners is they remove the software but leave the embedded in the registry so when you access the infected file again it is redistributed to the computer.

Download and install this tool, Spy Bot Search & Destroy, which will allow you to delegate what can change your registry. A notification will pop up if something is being changed and wait for you to “Allow” or “Deny” before it will do anything. This way you know when you are installing you can allow or if you aren’t doing anything at all and it asks to allow something you can make sure you know what is going on.
