A computer may be slow due to various reasons. Like virus to HDD space. There is a nice article on slow computer and its solution in the following link. Have a look on that it may help you in resolving your issue.

You might have accidentally removed entries relating to avast. Use ccleaner to do the registry and system cleaning. As for the present problem, try restoring your system to a previous date, if this does not work, then you will have to install your OS again for it to work perfectly. Hope this helps you.
if the registry is screwed up beforehand then backing it up will do you no good. your registry got corrupted either from the cleaner or something and now avast won’t uninstall. there may be more wrong than you know if your registry is messed up. a bloated registry will definitely slow a machine down. you really have to watch what you use to clean it. free is not always the best answer.
try another non-free registry cleaner, try to uninstall the registry cleaner you did use and see if it uninstalls. go to snapfiles.com or pctools.com or somewhere like that and get recommendations for a better registry cleaner. defrag the hard drive. get an adware/spyware cleaner. watch where you go on the internet and what you download. "free music files" are a favorite place to put viruses but you knew that.
if all that fails then you may not have any choice but to reformat the hard drive and reinstall everything.
