See if you have a Recovery Partition…
Try this one first, if it doesn’t fix it try the next two…
1. Reboot, and repeatedly press F10 at the HP logo until the recovery screen appears.
2. When the recovery screen appears, press "Next" and then "Yes" to perform a non-destructive recovery (all data saved). After the recovery is finished, the laptop will reboot.
Or to perform a destructive recovery, (***This will erase all your unsaved data!***)
Click "Advanced" and then "Yes".
After the recovery is finished, the laptop will reboot.
Or
Reboot, and repeatedly press F11. Follow on screen prompts.

How to Reboot a PC
1. Save work if it’s in jeopardy. If your PC has frozen, attempt to save your data before rebooting your machine. Rebooting will almost certainly cause data loss. Attempt to save your data to your hard drive, diskette or portable media.
2. Determine the steps your operating system has to go through to reboot. Some operating systems allow you to press Control, Alt and Delete to reboot the PC. Others require different commands. However, if the operating system and software are frozen, you may use the power button on the machine or the power strip.
3. Use the power switch if necessary. If you cannot access the shutdown feature of the operating system and the relevant buttons still won’t allow for a reboot, press and hold the power button on the PC. Allow the machine to rest for a few seconds, then power back on.
4. Wait for the power-on self-test. Allow the PC to check its components thoroughly through the initial boot screens that will appear.
5. Resume working. Log back into the machine and continue to work.
