You only have one restore point?
Try downloading the driver(s) from either the computers manufacturer or the drives manufacturer. Then overwrite the bad ones.
Or rt click the drive in Device Manager then click Properties on the General tab click the Troubleshoot button for suggestions
You could try uninstalling the device in the device manager. Then just restart your computer and follow the instructions for installing new hardware. If that doesn’t work, then the drive might be broken. The tend to wear out over time.
Heres the step by step:
right click "my Computer"
click the "hardware" tab
Find your CD drive and right click
Select "uninstall cd drive"
then restart your computer
then follow instructions for installing new hardware.
Go to device manager and delete your CD-ROM, reboot and windows will find new hardware and install the drivers for it.
It should then work, if the CD-ROM has not become faulty.
