If the PC Repair shop did the right service, they should have been able to remove the infection and repair the damages caused from the infection.
I would recommend getting a second look at it from another trusted source before the computer gets worse.
Improper virus removal can cause damage to the computer which can lead to data loss and the computer may not start up.
As for security. I always recommend the Paid editions of both AVG and Malwarebytes. The Free AVG is ok, but its missing a few key components to keep you fully protected. You should also have a router that allows for NAT, this adds another layer of protection.
PS. Before you do anything else if you haven’t done so already you need to backup your data to be safe.
