yuck! That’s happened to me before as well! I had to make a copy of my fonts folder from another computer and copy it to the messed up one – is this an option for you? If not, try this url: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314960
If you’ve been using your computer and Windows XP for any length of time, restore points were automatically created by System Restore. Most common is the restore point called a "system checkpoint". It’s automatically set every 24 hours of computer use. Open System Restore (start > help and support > system restore — or — start > all programs > accessories > system tools > system restore). Activate the "restore my computer to an earlier time" option and click next. The "Select a Restore Point" window opens with a current calendar. You should see several dates that are in bold type. Those are the dates when restore points were set. If you don’t see any in the current month, you can go back to previous months. Look for the back button < and forward button > next to the month and year on the calendar. Hope this helps.
