   To choose a registry cleaner, the most important thing is that it should be a safe and stable one. I mean it won’t delete useful files from your computer and then strongly impact computer performance.

   Also, you should know the importance of registry.Registry is the centre database of your computer operating system which contains information and settings for hardware, operating system software, most non-operating system software, and per-user settings. You must load the registry whenever you launch any programs on your computer. If the registry is too fat or with some errors, computer’s performance will seriously be impacted.

   It should have a powerful function of fixing registry errors and optimize registry. However, you just need to click simple buttons to take a full to scan your computer and find errors. Then, you still need to Click simple buttons to fix them all.

   Personally, i like Wondershare Registry Optimizer which has integrated functions like clean and optimize registry, IE manager, Stat up manager, uninstall manager and back up tools.

   Hope you find a proper one.

   Registry Cleaner: RegCure. You could use one called "CCleaner" but it does not find many problems in XP.    Security Software: PC Tools Spyware Doctor. It’s really fast and effective, and doesn’t take up a lot of memory.

   Registry cleaner: CCleaner. This will also clean up unnecessary files on your computer among other useful things.

   Security software: AVG free or avast! are both adequate. Norton, McAfee, etc. are not really worth the price and easily slow your computer down to a crawl if left unchecked.

   Here are some steps I would recommend you doing before you continue…

   1) Update your Windows to keep up with the latest installs and threats.

   2) Registry Cleaner

   You need one of these to protect your registry of invalid entries and corrupted values. Make sure you get one that is reputable. Based on my own experience, a free registry cleaner that I used brought me more harm than good as the error it picks up wasn’t actually an error. – corrupted my entire registry settings. Just be wary ok.

   3) Install Anti Virus Software

   You can try AVG or AVAST. Both very good in my opinion.

   4) Install Spyware/Malware Software

   Go with S&D. Works pretty damn well for me with it’s TeaTimer, constantly keeping your PC on a watchout.

   But really, go with what you really need k.
