Free registry cleaners aren’t complete tools to optimize your Windows registry. In most cases they just remove crap (whether successful or not, that’s another question). They won’t defrag nor optimize your system.

The most important thing to remember when using registry cleaners is that they are safe and won’t harm your computer in any way. With that said, I HIGHLY recommend Eusing Free Registry Cleaner. It is not only free, but very effective, and most importantly, 100% SAFE. It automatically creates registry backups so just in case there are any problems, you can immediately restore those registry entries that were fixed. Honestly however after using it on several hundred pcs over the past few years I have NEVER had to use the restore option. But is nice to know it is available just in case.

Below is a free Crap Cleaner program that will clear history and temp files among other things. It also has a registry cleaner. It works well. Never had a problem.
RegCure is the best registry cleaner. You can get a free trial.

And it is a better Registry Cleaner than CCleaner. I cleaned my registry with CCleaner then immidiately after I scaned and cleaned my registry with RegCure and it found 700+ problems, and after fixing them they were all gone.
