All you need to do is run this program called TUNE UP utilities 2008 and it will clean the computer for you safely. I hope this helps. It will remove old programs that are not in use anymore safely, defrag your registry harddrive, and more if you like.
no most programs that come with computers that you can delete with the add/remove program will not harm your computer. if your not sure what it is you might not want to download it but for the most part feel free to. just don’t delete any drivers which are sometimes easy to delete, they will say they are drivers htough.

I clean them all off except I keep my recycle folder
You can delete old versions of software such as Adobe 6.0. But the basic software and folders that help run your computer and applications (ex. PPT templates) you would not want to get rid of.
