No need for a total reinstall !
First do this:
Download this scanner ( http://search.yahoo.com/search;_ylt=A0geu7M8pWtJlysAMmtXNyoA?p=Malwarebytes'+Anti-Malware+downloads&y=Search&fr=sfp&ei=UTF-8&pop=1&rd=pref – choose the first link after the sponsored links that contains this text: Come to CNET Download.com for free and safe ) and follow these instructions: Install the application.
* Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update and launch, then click Finish ( If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version).
* Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan ( The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient).
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart ( The log is automatically saved by the program and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab).
And secondly, here is my technique on how to do a cleanup: tricks (and free programs) I use for problems, slow PCs or the likes.
1) The Java Runtime Environment causes issues, you should use a free program I use myself called JavaRa ( http://raproducts.org/javara.html ) to get the latest JRE and remove older versions. This will ensure the security of your computer and extra space on your hard disk. The download link is here: http://raproducts.org/
2) Flush every single possible accumulated junk in ALL your browsers. As you explore the web, browsers stores information about your browsing. You should delete that information from time to time.
Method One (now): In Internet Explorer, click the Tools menu, then Delete Browsing History and in the box, click the Delete all button (bottom left) and Yes.
In Firefox, go to tools, clear private data, make sure all boxes are checked and then click on the clear private data now button.
Method Two (in the future – about every two weeks for normal use of the internet – every week for heavy use):
In Internet Explorer, click the Tools menu, then click Delete Browsing History and in the box that opens, do the following steps (in order)
1) click the button near Temporary Internet Files, click Yes and wait for the box that opens to close.
2) click the button near History, click Yes and wait for the box that opens to close.
Finally, click the close button (bottom right) to finish.
In Firefox, Go to tools, clear private data and uncheck all except Browsing History, Cache and Authenticated Sessions boxes and then click on the clear private data now button.
Note: You should close your browser ( This is good for Internet Explorer and Firefox ) when you’re done to clear cookies that are still in memory.
For older versions of the programs or for other browsers, check help files for guidance on doing the cleanup.
3) Turn off the restore point utility ( here is a guide for XP: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310405 )
4) Install a free cleaner called Glary Utilities ( http://www.glaryutilities.com/gu.html ) to remove junk files and/or remnants of installs (there is always some) and use it in Windows "safe mode" (for a better cleanup job).
5) Get back in normal mode and do a FULL antivirus scan.
6) As a final touch, defragment your drive with your choice of defragmenter (built-in, freeware or open source).
7) Turn system restore back on. ( the same guide given in part 3 )
( A word of caution, with programs this powerful, be sure to read all instructions and help files completely so that you can apply fixes right the first time ! )
So here we have it, this will guide you to a better working faster protected machine.

Tonya the only thing you have to do is to download some anti-virus and anti-spyware programs. It’s easy and it will solve your pc’s problems.
Don’t bother to wipe the computer clean!
Do these steps:- Disable system restore, download superantispyware free and run a full system scan. After the scan is complete download avg free. Remember always keep your anti-virus and anti-spyware programs up-to-date very important.

If you’re still confused and don’t know what to do, i can manually go on your computer and fix the problem by myself with your permission. Please click on my name and send me a IM and i will reply back asap!!
windows live one care 90 day free tial will remove viruses for you and do a disk clean up and defrag too
no need to reinstall os or having xp cd just download any Microsoft certified anti-virus like http://www.quickheal.com
You have to install an antivirus. I suggest AVG free or Avast free.
Reinstalling the Windows is not the solution.
Reinstallation or restoring Windows needs an installer Cd.
no choice but to buy the disks. If this is a bought system from OEM, ask them for a new copy.
Depending on the age of your system, you might be able to do a system restore from Boot up. Restart your computer and Press and hold F8 while it boots up.
check your computer to see if there is a program installed by your pc manufacturer to burn a recovery disc, you can also try contacting your pc manufacturer to see if they can send you another copy of the recovery disc, otherwise you need to buy another copy of xp and reinstall
