   If you can’t get into windows even in safe mode, then you will have to reload windows, if you are lucky, you can try and run a repair instead of a full reload.

   You’re getting a BSOD (blue screen of death). Basically, your boot files are corrupted and Windows can’t load correctly/fully. Here’s what you need to do. 1) Put your OS disc in your drive and boot from the CD 2) Once the disk finishes booting, press ‘r’ for the repair screen. It’ll send you to a DOS prompt. 3) Type ‘fixboot’ (without the quote) and press enter. 4) Allow it to finish and type exit. Then take out the disc and let it restart.

   Does you IBM thinkpad have an ibm button just above the keyboard near the monitor. If it does, press this button while booting up. This should allow you to restore the computer to factory defaults.
