For a better protection, use the Antivirus’ Firewall, but for the BEST protection, get a seperate Firewall, disable both Antivirus’ and Windows’ Firewall and get a standalone Firewall.
My reccommendation on a firewall is the free version of Zone Alarm on: http://www.zonelabs.com/ I don’t reccommend buying the paid one, since the paid ones only includes things you’d like to have seperate protection for, like an antispyware (just use Ad-aware or SpybotSD) and CacheCleaner (use CCleaner), etc. the free version is already a solid firewall.
Information to people who thinks that Windows Firewall is good:
Windows firewall is a firewall that is built only for lazy and ignorant Internet users who are too lazy and too ignorant to install a better solution. Windows firewall only filter ingoing data, which means, Windows Firewall won’t restrict a spyware from distributing your Bank account all over the Internet, it only would restrict a virus’ or hacker’s attempt to break in trhough your computer. Even MS acknowledge this, by making Windows Firewall a recessive firewall, where Windows Firewall would back off and turn itself off, if it found that another firewall is installed.
The Windows firewall is better than nothing at best. If you have anything elce use that. I don’t think that any commerical firewals are bad… but ZoneAlarm is best.
i would prefer u use WINDOWS, especially WINDOWS XP coz it consits of an in-built firewall.
My suggestion is to use your own firewall software. The one that comes with your os is not as good as it may claim. Many people us zone alarm and that is a good one and is free. I use zone alarm and I’ve been happy with it. You just need to keep the application up to date with their upgrades. So, you can either use the one you have from your anti-virus tool or download zone alarm. Good luck.

i don’t think that you should use windows firewall because it’s really not good it’s very good i think you should use the one on the virus protection i think you are using macafee.

It depends on which company your firewall is from.
However, every time I have talked to a tech, I have been told to turn off everyone except for windows. There is no renewal fee for windows (free!) Which means that each year when your renewal time comes up you don’t have to worry about retraining your firewall when you suddenly realize that the Virus protection program no longer has the firewall in their package or they decide to charge big bucks to renew your firewall. I have been told that Windows firewall works very well. So far I have never had a trouble with my windows firewall. I can’t say the same for some of the more exspensive firewalls. Plus you have the added bonus that Windows firewall does not slow your computer down as bad as some of the more expensive firewalls.
