   The registry is a place that if you mess up you can turn the computer into paperweight especially in the hands of a novice user. This is the reason Microsoft doesn’t even include an antivirus for their products,people always turn against the manufacturer when something goes wrong.

   You answered your own question- registry cleaning is not effective.

   In theory there are "rules" for changing the registry when a program is installed. Nobody, including Microsoft, follows these rules, so there is no way to know what to remove. System Restore can undo what was recently done, but nothing can find its way through the build-up of years.
