How do I increase windows xp boot-up time. I have cleaned the programs from the start-up list. only comodo firewall and nvidia driver components are there.
Cleaned my PC from anti-virus, spyware and other malware.
Cleaned my registry.
Defragmented the registry and the hard drives.
Disabled unneeded devices.
But still my boot-up time is 1 minute. From the moment of the POST message to the usable desktop.
PC specs:
Intel p4 ht 3.20GHz.
512MB RAM
Nvidia Ge force 6600.
D945GNT motherboard.
160GB hard drive space.
Already used Advanced windows care and disabled the floppy drive seeking.

BOOTOPTIMIZEFUNCTION/ENABLE=
MUST BE "Y"
CURRENT USER/CONTROL PANEL/DESKTOP=MENUSHOWDELAY
MUST BE AT SMALL AT POSIBLE(SET TO 150)
Windows use to have a timed delay built into it but I cannot remember where it is. It was in win 95 and 98 but I don’t know if it is in xp.
The delay was in there for ‘branding’; sort of an ad for microsoft.
Also: upgrade the memory. Shoot for atleast 1 gig.
there’s a free program called advanced windows care get it and run it. turn of floppy seek and things like that in the bios, manually config your network configuration
