Don’t know about Disk Clean, but I use the registry cleaner -> CCleaner, after every time I get ready to turn the computer off. (Daily)
(It’s free, and works great!)
Once an hour? I believe that is too much. Your harddrive is rated in so many hours of usage. (Life Cycle)
In your harddrive are Platters. These platters can be made of glass or metal. They resemble a CD disk. There are usually 3 to 6 platters inside an average harddrive. Each platter has Magnetic Media on it. It’s a type of Ferrous material. (Ferrous = Iron)
On TOP, and on BOTTOM of EACH platter there is a Read/Write head.
The head is on the end of an Arm. The arm moves the head back, and forth across the platter. It can do this Up To HUNDREDS of Times a Second!
The magnetic media is arranges on the platter by the Read/Write head. When it’s being arranged, it is the Write function of the head that does this. The Read function just Reads what is on there.
The magnetic media is arranged in a series of 0’s and 1’s. It is arranged by what is put on there. (Programs, applications, operating system, and so on)
The 0’s and 1’s are then converted into Machine Language that the computer uses.
The magnetic media can only be arranged so many times, hence the Life Cycle. (Hours of usage)

Just thought I’d give more than your average answer!
There are no bad effects of using the disk cleanup tool regularly, apart from the possibility of permanently getting rid of a file which was put in the recycling bin by mistake.
Cleaning your hard drive every hour has no real advantage over cleaning it every month or two; doing it every hour is not going to make much difference at all, so you may as well do something else instead of doing a clean-up.
There will be no bad effects, apart from you are wasting your time. I agree with the first post, once a week, or even month is sufficent.
But yes, it is also over the top.
No. It`s completely over the top and unnecessary.
It sounds OCD to be doing it that often. Weekly or even monthly should be sufficiant. You won’t hurt it by doing it unless you delete something crucial.
Every day or every hour is a bit over the top. I run a combination program weekly for disk cleanup and I have installed Smart Defrag(free version) that defragments the hard drive continuously in the background to avoid the monthly or quarterly multi- hour defrag sessions. Hope this helps.
