Most of us use computers all the time, that does not mean that we make changes to registry continuously either.
Cleaning the Windows registry isn’t something to be taken lightly, unless you know exactly what you are doing, you are risking to stall your system everyday in your case 😛
Some article I read recently http://www.liutilities.com/products/registrybooster/articles/registry-cleaner-download/
No, it’s not harmful, but it’s really not necessary. Once a week or so would be plenty. Most people go MONTHS without doing it.
not directly buy certainly more risk indirectly from deleting items mistakenly. hopefully part of the routine is to take a backup of your current registry prior to your clean up. once per week should be fine and it will save you time as well
I dont know if its going to cause problems.. I personally use ccleaner.. its a free download and cleans your registry and the rest of your computer.. What is nice about it is it backs up your registry so that you can always restore to where you were if you come up with a problem
you are playing with fire 1 ops and you will need the restore cds the registry should never be touched it will just cause messed up programs and errors
keep you puter up to speed , house keeping is good for pc. System Mechanic 7 is a one stop house keeping program. You can dowload a trial for 30 days then you buy the key which is good for 3 pc’s.
Not necessarily, but not very useful, either. The Registry is such a big file that ordinary daily operations probably don’t make it much bigger.
On the other hand, if your area is prone to power outages, running a read-and-write intensive operation like that could increase your chances of having the power go out in the middle of something critical, leaving you with a crippled machine.
I guess I’d have to advise against it. Use the night hours to run anti-malware scans instead, like I do: Anti-virus one night, anti-spyware another, anti-adware a third.
Hope that helps.

No, it’s good for it!

Potentially. Delete the wrong registry key and there’s not much that anyone can do to help you, you’ll have to reinstall. The registry is NOT something to play around with if you don’t know what you’re doing. You can seriously break your OS and any of your programs if you’re not careful.
u kidding me? no!
It can potentially be catastrophic. There is a lot of disinformation and fear mongering about the Windows registry being full of errors and slowing down the system. HOGWASH!
The registry is a very stable and self maintaining data base when not deliberately or just unknowing damaged by misuse.
First, when a program is uninstalled, many registry entries are left behind, but, they are marked to be ignored and are skipped when the registry is read during bootup. These entries are the big bad errors all the registry cleaning software is reporting. They’re not errors at all, just left over data that gets ignored.
Second, these left over entries may amount to a few hundred KB, it only takes nano-seconds to read that amount of data so they are not slowing the system down any appreciable amount.
Third, don’t you think Microsoft would have included a registry tuning or cleaning tool if it where that big of a problem?
If it works for you, do what you’re comfortable with, but ask yourself, why do all the registry cleaners make you agree they are not responsible for damage to your system when you install it?
If you want to keep your system performing as best as it can, regularly use disk cleanup and defrag. The hard drive is what takes the most time in the system. Keep the number of processes running down to a minimum run anti-virus and anti-spyware regularly to keep the bad guys out.
