Yes, a cleanup of the registry helps to speed up the computer to some extent. But there are still something that you can do to speed up your computer as you can see below:
1) Uninstall the programs that you don’t need.
2) Delete the files you don’t need
3) Use the disk clean-up option in Windows to regularly clean up the system junk files.
4) Turn off System Restore feature.
5) Regularly scan the computer for viruses and spyware.
6) Remember to disable some unneeded startup items.
7)Once you have done the above points, please defragment your hard drive- A GOOD solution to speeding up your computer by effectively managing the files on the hard disk as you can see more detailed information here: http://ezinearticles.com/?Disk-Defragmentation%A1%AAMake-Computers-Run-Faster-Soon&id=3162755
These are what I always do when trying to speed up my computer, wish you good luck, too!
Yes ,it is true. Most computers actually run slow because of a hidden part of your system, which is constantly being used by Windows. This part of your PC is called the "registry" and is the central database for Windows, which stores everything from your latest emails to your desktop wallpaper. It’s one of the most important parts of Windows and can easily make your PC run slow. The more corrupt registry files your computer has, the more it struggles to read them. The files which makes it run slower and slower. To fix this, you simply need to use a registry cleaner http://computer-e-book-money.com/ . These are small software tools which actually work by scanning through the registry and fixing any bad files that are in there. This then allows Windows to read as many files as it wants, when it wants to.
In theory, yes, they are supposed to clean up the registry and make it leaner and meaner.
But the BEST way is wipe out the hard disk and reload the operating system.
1.)
Go to the mfg of your computer’s website and download and install the latest drivers for your audio, chipset, video, etc.
2.)
Then whatever peripherals that you have, e.g., printer, scanner, camera, etc, you need to go those respective websites and download and install the latest drivers.
3.)
Reinstall all your favorite applications.
4.) Install Microsoft Security Essentials (it’s free)
[sigh!] Lots of work, I know.
Then go to a computer store and buy Acronis 2009 and make a backup image of your C:/ drive onto an external hard disk.
If you should ever have to wipe out your hard disk and reinstall OS, drivers, etc, it will now only take a few minutes!
