You need to download your sound card drivers. Go to your computer manufactures website; they should have them available for you based upon either the serial number or model type.
Look in device manager..
You might need to be logged on as an administrator in order to do this.
Open Device Manager, click Start, and then click Control Panel. Double-click System. On the Hardware tab, click Device Manager.
See if there’s a warning triangle next to your sound driver. If that’s the case, try rolling back/updating the driver. If that fails or you don’t have one to roll back – look on the munufacturer’s site for the correct drivers for your OS/sound card, or use one of these generic ones.
For XP…
Download, install the first two files (AC97), then re-start.

For Vista/Win 7…
Download, install the first file (AC97), then re-start.

To install the drivers, double click the downloaded file and follow any prompts.
