I just got a laptop and they forgot to install some drivers but I don’t know which ones. I know that they aren’t there because my computer is running funny and I fixed a few. Are there any programs that can scan and tell me what I’m missing?

you can download driverchecker for free at http://www.driverschecker.com
Right click ‘My Computer’> Hardware> Device Manager: here, any parts that are missing drivers will be displayed as a yellow icon: right click those icons, and while hooked to the internet, tick ‘Update Drivers’, then follow wizard to allow searching net, install automatic.
When you finally get all things nip and tuck, back up your drivers to a separate CD!
It gets harder and harder to find them, and many places charge to get them.
Try Driver Magician Lite (freeware);

Use the ‘identify & back up all drivers’ for the first BU; & keep it with your unit.
In addition to the last answer I would like to recommend on Driver Magician which is a bit cheaper and has a special "Unknown Devices" feature that helps you determine what the Unknown Devices are…
Their website address is:

There’s a program called Drive Scanner by Uniblue. It works pretty good. It costs money but if you know anything about torrents, you can get it free.
