   Well you’re going to get two answers here.

   Most people will tell you to use the free cleaner "CCleaner" which u can get from http://www.ccleaner.com – but this is BAD because it just tries to find as many problems as possible to make itself look good (why else would it be free)?

   You need to be careful with the regsitry because it’s a crucial part of your system. If you screw up one of the important files inside it, you’re going to have BIG problems down the line… so you need to be sure the registry cleaner you use will be as "delicate" as possible with your PC.

   The best regsitry cleaner I’ve used is one called "RegCure". It’s very fast at scanning and it speeds up your computer a lot. You can see exactly what it does here: http://www.fastregistryfixes.com/regcure_review.html

   There are several free registry cleaners and believe me i tried almost all of them. They just dont work…

   A registry is a very intricate set of software instructions. A free registry cleaner can do more harm than good believe me, I have seen registries destroyed by cheap junk! Stay away from free registry cleaners!

   To do it manually is much too dangerous.
   You need a good, free and safe to use program to clean your registry.

   I use both of them.
   When you download CCleaner, leave all of the settings as they are.
   As always, be careful what you delete, both programs will backup anything it deletes though.

   Also, the one you downloaded is probably a malicious rogue cleaner, you are probably infected now. You will need this to clean you up:

   @Jay, thanks for the thumbs down, and for recommending a known malicious registry cleaner. You probably just got someone infected with malware, but that’s what you were trying to do in the first place, wasn’t it?!
