Steven i would suggest you to go for proven ones such as reginout etc
Registry cleaners are so unreliable and experts don’t even recommend them. In fact you don’t need a registry cleaner and, contrary to popular reports, cleaning your registry ‘does not’ increase performance. Registry cleaners are noted for delivering numerous errors
my advice is not to use registry cleaners
However you can use the registry cleaner of Windows Live OneCare safety scanner
http://onecare.live.com/site/en-gb/default.htm
Actually CCleaner is available for download at no cost at all.
The donation is completely optional and to download CCleaner either go to:
http://www.ccleaner.com/ or http://filehippo.com/
ccleaner is free go here to get it
http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner
Filehippo.com has lots of good freeware. You can find one there.
I don’t know who or what told you Ccleaner is not free but the information you received is wrong. I have been using Ccleaner for free for several years. I also use Glary Utilities which also has a free version. Beware of what registry cleaner you use as most will do more harm than good. There is a big misconception about cleaning the registry. This is not to say it will not make any improvements but they are minimal. The best means of enhancing your computer’s performance is routine maintenance as outlined on the link below. The two registry cleaners I list are safe to use.*

Edit: So according to one answer registry cleaners are bad do not use them but use Live OneCare registry cleaner …lol. Can you say "Contradiction"? And it’s not the "Safety Scanner". It’s the "Clean-up Utility". The safety scanner is for infections and it’s worthless. OneCare was a disaster for MS. They seem to have redeemed themselves with MSE.
