   why you wasting time get the important data off then reinstall very easy and gets rid of all problems. good luck

   AVG Antivirus (http://free.grisoft.com)
   SuperAntiSpyware (http://www.superantispyware.com)

   The combination of these will get rid of just about all adware.

   Also, use msconfig (Start -> Run -> msconfig) To disable any startup items that don’t need to run at startup… like tray icons for java, quicktime, messengers, adobe… any anything that claims to be an updater for these. Just manually update from time to time and you don’t need these things running in the tray.

   There is a good free anti virus and worm program that I have used before called a-squared. It has picked up things during a deep scan that my expensive security suite doesn’t.

   I don’t work for them or anything. I just know from personal experience that it works great and has saved me from reformatting a few times. The link is in source.
