I want to be able to download the codes to my computer and have my computer as the diagnostic tool to find out more about why the check engine light is on, I am wondering if there is software you can download to your computer for it?

There’s plenty of software. You need the OBDII to serial or USB adapter. I get them on ebay. Whichever one you buy will have sample software that you can buy full versions of for a few dollars.
They sell cheap very low cost imported units on Ebay. Just search OBD2 code reader and try OBD2 scanner.

I gave not seen any because you need the special plug for the connector. You can by a code reader at a parts store for under $100.
need the right diagnostic equipment and programs for that car
Go buy an OBD II
you just need to go buy a hand held scanner, its about 50 bucks and it comes with a book and a cd. you need the scanner to get the code and then the book and cd to figure out what the code is
