Try disabling some or all startup items during windows.. might have some viruses starting along with your computer..
follow this steps:
Things You’ll Need:
* Windows XP
1.Choose the "Start" menu in Windows XP, and choose "Run" from the right side of the "Start" menu to open the "Run" dialog box.
2.Type "MSCONFIG" (without the quotation marks) in the "Open" text box of the "Run" dialog box.
3.Click the "OK" button in the "Run" dialog box to bring up the "System Configuration Utility" and close the "Run" dialog box.
4.Select the "Start Up" tab in the "System Configuration Utility" dialog box to display the programs that currently run each time your computer is started.
5.Uncheck any program from the start up program list that you don’t want to run each time the computer is turned on or restarted. You can also choose to use the "Enable All" button to put checks next to all programs or the "Disable All" to uncheck all of the programs.
6.Click the "OK" button to close the "System Configuration Utility" dialog box and alter the startup programs for Windows XP.
7.Choose to "Restart" or "Exit Without Restart" from the "System Configuration" dialog box that has popped up. You can restart later, but the changes you made will not take affect until you do.
Good Luck
Did you try running the installer as an administrator?
Can you post the first error you had?
