I would like to wipe out my hard drive and start new. I am wondering what exactly I need to load it all back on. Is there a way for me to save programs to a disk or flash drive to load back on later. What software do I need to restore the hard drive? I have a recover and applications/drivers dvd cd. Is this enough once I clear my hard drive to restore windows and the like back on it? Is there anything else that I need before I do this?

Sorry to say restore disc’s are only fair to poor at best.
Your best results will come from an Original Retail version of Microsoft Windows XP.
Re-Install all the other Applications.
I wouldn’t try making copys.
If you have music, or pictures you can copy them to CD or DVD, then put them back later.
program files ,doc and settings, and system state needs to be backup
to a external drive, recover and applications is only going to recover what was on the the pc when shipped or in others words factory settings,if you have system recovery discs usually comes in sets of
3’s or up to six,use full recovery that will wipe the drive clean and reinstall you os to factory settings
You will also need to backup all of your files like your music & pictures to DVD or an external HDD. When you restore the computer it will erase every thing and reinstall Windows OS and the factory programs, the computer will be just like the day you got it. You will also need to do all of the updates again…
