The answer seems to be given by the fact that you can connect to ms messenger. This should work
IPCONFIG /ALL at the command prompt and write down the gateway address, ipaddress, and dns addresses. Hopefully you see that the address is not 169.x.x.x , the bit bucket
Go into you ip settings and add the dns server 4.2.2.1 and 4.2.2.2
Add the gateway address of your router. add your ipaddress but choose something outside of the dhcp range of the router.
select the wireless tab – and make sure you have ‘let windows manage …etc’ checked on. see if the ssid is listed in the preferred networks area on that tab. Highlite the ssid, and Choose properties/ authentication and make sure the box is unchecked.
Post your results back and we’ll continue
Good Luck
sometimes it might be cuz you dont have enough space on your hard drive. i have over 800 GB of space and so far only used up 600GB. =] my sisters computer was once full, (had only 3GB or so left, and it wouldnt load any websites)
good luck
ps vista is cr@p, so is windows 7 and any mac. xp pro is the way so far =p
if your not 100% sure your doing things right
best to go to your local computer store and get someone to have a look at it
that is your best option
I would try removing all networking configuration items from the network configuration for your connections and then delete all network adapters from Device Manager.
Once you’ve done this, reboot and have Device Manager recognize all of the network devices again and then configure your networking for the devices.
Hopefully that will clean things up and allow the networking on your system to run properly again.
If that doesn’t work, I suggest copying all of your data to backup, finding all of your installation media for all of your programs, and then format and reload the operating system as you have suggested as a last measure.
