I am looking for a good registry cleaner for my x40 laptop, running XP Pro. I have done some research on google, Registry Mechanic and CleanMyPC Registry Cleaner seem among the best,
CleanMyPC Registry Cleaner http://www.registry-cleaner.net/
Registry Mechanic http://www.pctools.com/registry-mechanic/
Is there anyone who is using these cleaners can share your experience? Which one is better? Or any other recommendations?

i have registry mechanic installed on my system. it does the job, if you register it. My boot-up time was cut in half
i use regscrubxp. i find it excellent and its free
I would recommend Registry Booster because you can defragment your registry (only registry).
I havent tried those, but I use System Mechanic Pro. It works excellent!!
I suggest you get Ccleaner, it works great, and it’s free.
CCleaner is a freeware system optimization and privacy tool. It removes unused files from your system – allowing Windows to run faster and freeing up valuable hard disk space. It also cleans traces of your online activities such as your Internet history. But the best part is that it’s fast (normally taking less that a second to run) and contains NO Spyware or Adware! 🙂
Cleans the following
Internet Explorer
Temporary files, URL history, cookies, Autocomplete form history, index.dat.
Firefox
Temporary files, URL history, cookies, download history.
Opera
Temporary files, URL history, cookies.
Windows
Recycle Bin, Recent Documents, Temporary files and Log files.
Registry cleaner
Advanced features to remove unused and old entries, including File Extensions, ActiveX Controls, ClassIDs, ProgIDs, Uninstallers, Shared DLLs, Fonts, Help Files, Application Paths, Icons, Invalid Shortcuts and more… also comes with a comprehensive backup feature.
Third-party applications
Removes temp files and recent file lists (MRUs) from many apps including Media Player, eMule, Kazaa, Google Toolbar, Netscape, MS Office, Nero, Adobe Acrobat, WinRAR, WinAce, WinZip and many more…

I have used CleanMyPC reg cleaner for more than 2 years and I think it is the best registry cleaner in the market. Although some other registry cleaner may claim find more registry errors than CleanMyPC, many of those errors are just not real errors and being reported by mistake. Removing a good registry key by mistake is much much worse than leaving a wrong key. CleanMyPC does a good job in registry analyzing and it never remove any key by mistake in my experience.
Besides the registry cleaning function, the startup manager function inside the program is very useful to fine tune your computer.
