Its 3 gigs is 6 times the ram you have, and the intel processor will run more quiet and cool then an Amd. It has a good graphics card in 256mb so should be able to deliver.
It should run everyday tasks like Word Processing, Internet, Music, and Solitare faster than your old Packard. But when it comes to hardcore games like Crysis, the Packard will be faster.
The computer you described is really good.
If the packard bell processor is single core (im guessing it is with only 512sdram) then the laptop would be faster. It has loads more memory and the new dual cores are more efficient than the old ones so not only do multi-threaded tasks run using both processors, halving the time, it probably takes less time than the 3.06ghz.
The video cards alright too, but i can’t compare it really as you haven’t posted the old one. But yes, this should run faster than your old computer.
