Push "ctrl alt delete" when you are having problems and look in the list for the program that is running high like 20%, 50% or higher in the "CPU" column, then you’ll know that is the problem program, right click it and "end process" it and then go uninstall it. "system idle process" is supposed to be a high number so ignore that one if it’s high (even if it’s 99%). Having programs on your computer wont make it run slow like that only programs running in the background will. Go to "run" and type in "msconfig" go to startup tab and uncheck anything that you dont need running right when you start your computer, then go to the "services" tab and check box "hide all microsoft services" then uncheck anything you dont need at start up. You will probably need to leave some things on like any display drivers for your graphics and any drivers for like printers or whatever else you have hooked up to your computer. If you are unsure if you should uncheck a program search the program name on google and find out if it’s safe to turn off.
Use a good PC optimizer and Registry cleaner such as Reginout to make your computer faster

run, msconfig.. startup and services tabs, hide first all MS services then uncheck the programs you dont use that much.. apply and restart…
Although it is the most simple solution, the best bet is to backup all of your important documents and reinstall your OS and redownload any programs you view as essential. You will find, over time, that it will slow down again, but not to that extent. Also, you would be best to store your OS and programs on one partition/separate hard drive and have your files on another. That means that if this happens again, you can just reinstall the OS and leave your files unaffected.
Have you tried booting off of your Windows Install Disk and repairing your system?
Try booting into Safe Mode. See if it runs normal in Safe mode. If so, then run an anti virus, anti Malware like Malwarebytes, Spyware remover like Spybot Search and destroy.
Also have you tried a System Restore?
If this does not work, if it freezes during safe mode it may be too damaged to fix. A Clean install would be the best thing for our computer.
i suggest you to clean your desktop and to try to do not download a lot of things on the C drive. and if its possible….. to format your pc . 😀
If you don’t use the dock, then remove it from the programs list. It’s useless imo.
Maybe you should run a virus scan with avast to see if it’s an infection.
I know you don’t want to uninstall anything. But there could be zillions of things that you haven’t mentioned present in your computer that slows it down. My recommendation would be to take a backup, and restore your computer to "new" status and reinstall the software you need.
This is how you’ll get the most performance back without spending hours and hours trying to find the issue.
The Windows Registry is the master control center for your operating system and applications it runs. Corruption or overload registry issues can cause all sorts of pc performance problems, including poor application startup times, slow Windows start-up, extremely slow shut down, slow internet surfing, inability to resume from computer sleep and more.Cleaning, compacting, and optimizing your Windows registry can go a long way to dramatically speeding up your computer’s performance, start-up and shutdown speed.
