hi firefly, yes my friend let’s maintain your computer before we spend the money so reboot when you see your windows logo start tapping f8 this will bring you to a safe mode screen scrol fown to last good configuration when my system acted correctly (advance) when you get to your desktop hit start>programs>accessories>system tools scrol down to system restore there you see a calender hit the first lit number to your far left and apply your system is restore and reboot. when that completes now hit start>settings>control panel hit the internet options icon there delete your history and cookies now exit back to desktop and now go back to system tools and defragment this is a very important step to complete so make sure it finishes successful. good luck hope i was helpful to you
Use an anti malware and spyware programs..I used avast before, but it couldnt detect nor heal other virus infections. Better have an ampaw smasher, it has many tools like the smash it that will kill the virus..
I think you are referring to streaming when you say stopping and downloading. Check the speeds you are getting are what you are supposed to be using this speed test http://speedtest.net.
All being well I’d then defrag and run a file cleanup, this should be done on a regular basis anyway.
Next I’d scan for infections and clear your cache, below you’ll find some easy instructions to follow that should check for most infections. You say you have a Avast, I’d stick with that.
Run the quick scan with malwarebytes anti-malware then reboot and run the full scan and reboot again.
Ensure your anti-virus is up to date, in your case Avast.
Some software that I’d recommend you running weekly are:-
malwarebytes anti-malware http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php
SUPERantispyware http://www.superantispyware.com/download.html
Spybot Search and Destroy http://www.safer-networking.org/index2.html
Select the free versions if applicable.
I’d also recommend you run ccleaner http://ccleaner.com every day to clear your "crap" It has 2 scans, cleaner and registry, remove or fix all that it finds but repeat the registry one until nothing is detected.
Please ensure that you check for updates before running these tools.
After a malware attack and clean It’s always a good idea to switch off System Restore, reboot, switch it back on, create a new restore point then reboot again.
Hope this helps.
Feel free to email me if I can help further.
NB: Tip – If you find that you are unable to run a program eg: mbam-setup.exe try changing it to something random like 5488gdhrf.exe and try again.
