How serious are these threats? What is the best way to get rid of them? Is it possible to ignore them and still have a functioning computer? I’m not good with computers, so i would appreciate your help.

go to microsoft and get free trrial microsoft live local and windows defender
download a program called bazooka (which you can download from http://www.download.com). It will help you delete these programs from your harddrive. Unlike a lot of spyware/ adware deletion programs, this one tells you step-by-step how to delete the unwanted programs yourself, which I think is a lot more effective.
That being said, some programs are virtually impossible to get rid of and you might have to reformat your hard drive. If the computer is still under warranty, you can call tech support and they will walk you through the process. If you don’t have some sort of firewall, get one right away!
Heres some easy ways to speed up your computer and keep it safe! Check for problems as well to see what’s going on with your XP updates with these programs. Virus’s generally attack the anti-virus program to remain undetected by your running program. It truly sucks but the checkups will help you with any virus’s and spyware.
Run the spyware and virus programs. Download system mechanic for the 30 day trial. You will love it!
Good luck! For the spyware scan and virus protection free try any of these :
