   Virus infection or corrupt windows registry can result into freezes. I recommend AVAST free and Reginout system cleaner to you. Your system would be back to normal hopefully. Adding more RAM would be a plus.

   It could be a software issue if you don’t have automatic updates turned on you should it will continually update windows to make sure things like that don’t happen. If you do make sure none of the drivers or any software you have is conflicting with one another. Also you can check device manager to make sure all your drivers are good.

   BIOS wouldn’t really detect anything past POST. and the things that cause crashes… sometimes get past POST.

   …first thing that jumps out at me. 64bit win7 with 6GB of RAM and a GPU, on 600W of PSU.

   600W is a bit weak. if the computer is crashing, as it ramps up to do more intensive tasks, or crashes randomly after lesser use… or wake from sleep. it may point to a power supply issue. either one that’s bad, or can’t supply enough juice for the system.

   aside from that… heat is the next biggest killer of computers. or cause of crashes. can download any number of cpu monitoring utilities… CPUz comes to mind. see what temp the cpu is running at etc. in general make sure fans are spinning, and dust is blown out of the case. and vents aren’t covered.

   win 7 comes with a RAM tester. can run that utility. after crappy PSU, and overheating on the CPU. it’s dead or bad RAM.

   sometimes… updated drivers can cause system instability. can try… rolling back the drivers. or checking for a firmware update to the BIOS. ..although firmware updates rarely fix things.

   aside from that…can try reinstalling the OS.
