Sorry to hear about your problem. If you don’t want to buy a new system, there are quite a few tweaks you can do on your own:
Remove unneeded startup programs
Run a disk cleanup and defragger
Clean up the Windows registry
You can also download software that can do all three of these things automatically. I recommend tying it out and scanning your system for free at:
http://www.registry-clean-up.net
Do below system maintenance tasks on a regular basis, especially once a week.
Defragment the Hard Disk:
– –
1. Click Start button on the Taskbar.
2. Click All Programs | Accessories | System Tools | Disk Defragmenter.
3. Disk Defragmenter will launch on your screen.
4. Select the drives that you wish to defragment.
5. After selecting, click Defragment disks button to start the actual process.
Please note that this process may take a longer time depending on the level of fragmentation. It is also advisable to do not open programs nor work while this process is continued.
Defragment the System Registry:

Have you defragged it lately? (it needs to be checked every month or so)
Do you have daily scans that run automatically or manually?
Have you downloaded anything from a Wallpaper/Screen Saver site recently? (these will slow your computer down for sure)
Have you downloaded anything from a site you have never used before?
*****You do not need to add more fuel to the fire by downloading free stuff. You’re giving viruses a free ride when you do that*****
Try upgrading your Internet Server to a better one, will cost you a few extra dollars.
Run any virus scan.. Google some.
Try using Avast, it will help clean up your computer and check for viruses. Also do a disk de-frag, you should be able to do that by going into computer/right click C drive/properties/disk cleanup. Also get rid of some old programs you don’t use anymore. Upgrade your RAM may be a big one, especially if your doing top end graphical stuff. Also be sure to keep your PC up to date regularly.
