1) Yes and Norton can also slow your system down. 2) Don’t trust those sites, try doing a disk cleanup and a Disk Defragmentation.
Avast Antivirus is free and has a good catch rate, it also recieves Virus definition updates daily and runs smoothly in the background.
Norton has always been a resource hog, and it’s probably contributing a lot to your slowdown itself. In answer to your questions though,
1. Yes. Norton’s scan quality has been slipping lately, and a lot of the newer bugs fly right past it.
2. My recmmendation would be free.avg.com. It’s a good, lightweight, and free antiviral that catches a lot more than Norton does and it doesn’t hog resources like Norton tends to do.
Your PC is constantly reading and writing to a registry while you work, or while you are playing games, on it. This all happens in the background without you even noticing. When your PC was new, this was no problem, but the longer you have your computer, the more programs you install on it and the more the registry becomes bloated and damaged. This is the reason that your PC is running slower and might crash all of a sudden without warning. Your computer needs to work hard to go through all the registry bloat, or it might simply crash if it comes across a faulty entry.A registry cleaner will scan and repair your registry.Frequent maintenance using a registry cleaner is crucial to make your computer go faster.I should like to commend Registry Easy http://best-way-to-improve-pc-performance.com to you !
