Well if you have a legitament copy of windows just contact Microsoft or the store you bought it from and trade it for a new copy. If you are past the store return policy and don’t feel like sending in your copy of windows to Microsoft you can just disable the notificaiton with a registry edit.
You have downloaded SP2 which includes
the WGA windows genuine advantage
it is designed to hunt down stolen or widely copied
versions of Windows XP most of which are CORPORATE
versions of SP1
You could completely reformat and reinstall the STOLEN
copy of XP SP1 and then turn off UPDATES
but you would be running without all the fixes since SP1
And it is against the law to run an illegal copy of Windows
and right now your registered information with Microsoft
is on a list . If it contains your real name and address
This won’t end till you resolve the issue
You can go to Microsoft Genuine Advantage use the POP UP
from the system alert
its $189 to buy XP Pro they email you the CD KEY
and mail the CD
You can enter the new CD-Key without install and then
your copy is legal
yes
no! Because what it means is that somehow, intentionally or inadvertedly you have software that has already been used and registered.
Now, depending on where or under what circumstances you came across said software, you may be entitled to your money back, or could contact windows (as it sounds like your operating system is giving off this message)
You may contact them and explain why you feel you are entitled to this software, and rightfully able to use it without having to pay for another copy of said software.
But bottom line is that you are using software thats already being used by someone else.
If you just bought a computer, or paid for repairs for it and it included an operating system upgrade in it, well then you are entitled to your money back, because they gave you a bogus copy of the software.
thats criminal
