   Run a spyware program like Ad Aware Personal. Go to http://www.crucial.com. Put in the specs on your computer. It will diagnose and tell you how much RAM your machine will take. Then buy and install the ram. I would also run error checking to check your hard drive. Open my computer, right click the c drive, click properties, then tools, error checking. These are the steps for Windows xp.

   more ram.e,machines are shipped with the minimum of ram so first buy more ram.doubling ram can speed a machine up by 40%
   do you have a graphics card ?
   if not your pc is using some of your ram for graphics app’s
   so get yourself a graphics card.but don’t go mad look at what you do with your pc then buy what you need.

   I think that we have to consider the age of the computer – and start thinking that this could be a hardware related problem. Perhaps the hard drive itself.

   Format your computer and reinstall Windows. Make sure to back up your files though. Then take a long hard look in the mirror and ask yourself, "Why am I running an eMachines?"

   I would reload windows from scratch, first zero out your hard disk with killdisk, then use this tutorial for reloading windows xp:

   When it gets that bad..have a tech look at it. You’ll just end up making it worse and losing your data.
